At Thriving Beyond Grief, you are understood more than you know.

“We know first-hand how grief and grief-related anxiety and panic profoundly impact us at the very core of our being. These emotions can rob us and steal our sense of peace and joy every single day. There is an intense pain that comes from feeling hopelessly stuck in a “new normal” that was never asked for and never expected to be a part of our life experience.”

“I remember very vividly the day my family Dr. had looked me square in the eyes and said

“Kelly, you no longer just have anxiety that moves you into panic attacks, you have a grief-induced panic disorder.”

In that moment, I knew she was right. I had tried everything I could to stop these from occurring. Yet, the grief I was experiencing had moved from what would be considered normal grief into complicated-grief in no time. The trauma I had incurred through my father’s death, had me in its grips.

I prayed, cried out to God, recited scripture, read books, read my bible, had people pray for me, and on and on.”

A note from Kelly…

I hear you.

I understand you.

At the time I had finally gone to see my doctor, I had constant anxiety and I was enduring 4 to 5 panic attacks a day. I had come to a place where I had isolated myself to my house as they would occur without warning (at least I thought) anywhere and everywhere, including while driving.

I felt exhausted and drained mentally, emotionally, and physically. Drained spiritually. I felt as though my life was out of control, and that I was destined to remain disconnected from myself and others forever. Hopelessness engulfed me.

I remember one day I was standing in-between my kitchen and dining room, when I heard the Lord speak so clearly. He said “Kelly, are you ready to surrender?” My only response was “yes”.

Surrendering to the process can feel like defeat, but it opens the door to transformation.

When we let go of the need for control, we allow ourselves to explore uncharted territories within ourselves. This wilderness is not a place of despair and lack; rather, it's a space filled with possibilities for growth and healing to encounter the wonders of God.

In the context of recovery from complicated-grief, or even an anxiety or panic disorder, surrendering means acknowledging our vulnerabilities and the complexities of our situations, experiences, and emotions. It allows us to step back, cease the struggle against what we cannot change on our own, and embrace the journey ahead with curiosity and hope.

As we navigate through this wilderness together, you will encounter obstacles and challenges, but these experiences are essential to your development, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

Each step taken in the unknown fosters resilience and insight, helping you emerge stronger and more aware of God and your true self. In letting go of control, we cultivate trust in God, the process, and in ourselves, ultimately leading us towards a place of thriving.
